It is easy to contact a few influential people and some great artists from other places, and try to bribe them to come to your place, so your empty hole suddenly gets more interesting and gets more visual prestige...but is is not easy to let newbies come to your place and sacrifice a lot of time you could spend with your family or friends to just help them to have a proper lighting in a 3D scene...coz heh, yeah, it's just a few pixels on a screen, ...but does it matter..
Fame, Personnal Glory, Arrogance....does it really matter ?
Everybody's got his own little personnal homepage where one is his own King and his own subject...where one is his own master, his own artist...his own friend, his own enemy...
What happens, when you put together a few of these individuals ?
They can fight until one of them or both get ridiculous , or they can work together and bring something new & brilliant ,all becoming one ( sounds like Babylon 5...hehe ).
What happens, when you put together hundreds of these individuals ?
They can fight until they all get ridiculous , or they can work together, and become something that doesn't exist anywhere else.
It's the power of creating things, sharing things without being bothered by working hard for someone , teaching someone...without having your own personnal agenda to become a legend, or to use people for your own Ego's development.
Of course, when you lead something as big as this place, you're bound to have a lot of enemies, but a lot more friends, people you can count on and people that can count on you, because We know what it is all about, it's about people that at first don't know each other, and that at the end are becoming friends, that are so reliable to each other they can form small groups and can produce some stunning work , and that don't have to be ashamed of what they do compared to what professionnals do, because the pros do it 12 hours a day, and we do it 2 hours a day when the girlfriend isn't screaming :)
So it is all about friendship, not about numbers and prestige.
